Cookie & Storage Policy

Last updated: June 30, 2026

This policy explains the cookies and browser storage ClutchTick uses, what each one is for, and how you stay in control. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy and Terms.

The short version: ClutchTick uses essential storage only — what's needed to keep you signed in and to remember your app preferences. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not track you across other websites.

1What are cookies and browser storage?

"Cookies" are small files a website saves in your browser. Most of ClutchTick actually uses two close relatives — localStorage and sessionStorage — which work the same way for you but stay on your device rather than being sent with every request. For simplicity we refer to all of these as "storage" below.

We use storage for three things only: keeping you logged in, remembering your settings (like which channels you've muted), and running live voice, video and chat. We don't use it to build an advertising profile.

2Exactly what we store

Here is the complete list. "Essential" items are required for the service to work; "Functional" items remember your preferences so the app feels right each time you return.

NameKindTypePurposeDuration
ct.accessToken localStorage Essential Keeps you signed in to the web app between page loads. Until you log out
refresh token Cookie (httpOnly, api.clutchtick.com) Essential Securely renews your session so you don't have to log in constantly. It is httpOnly, so scripts can't read it. Session / until logout
ctCookieOk localStorage Essential Remembers your choice on the cookie banner so we don't ask again. Until cleared
ct.apiBase localStorage Functional Optional custom API endpoint, used for development and self-hosting. Not set for normal users. Until cleared
ctRead, ctUnread, ctMentions localStorage Functional Track which messages and mentions you've already seen, so unread badges are accurate. Until cleared
ctMutedChans, ctMutedComms, ctNotifyNone, ctNotifyNoneComm localStorage Functional Remember the channels and communities you've muted or set notification levels for. Until cleared
ctCatCollapse, ctStageCompact, ctSharePrefs, ctEmojiRecent, ctChanSrv localStorage Functional Remember layout preferences: collapsed channel categories, compact view, screen-share settings, your recently used emoji, and a small channel lookup cache. Until cleared
LiveKit / Socket.IO session Storage on api. / voice.clutchtick.com Essential Set by our real-time and voice/video providers to route your live connection while you're in a room or channel. Session

The marketing site (clutchtick.com) itself sets no tracking cookies at all — the items above are used by the web app at /app once you sign in.

3What we don't do

  • No advertising or marketing cookies.
  • No cross-site tracking, fingerprinting, or data brokers.
  • No selling or sharing of your data for advertising.
  • No third-party analytics that profile you across the web.

If we ever add optional analytics, it will be opt-in through the cookie banner and listed here first.

4Managing your choices

Because everything we store today is essential or a functional preference, declining doesn't break the marketing site — and the app needs the essential items to log you in at all. You're always in control:

  • Cookie banner: choose Accept or Decline when you first visit. Declining skips any non-essential storage (we add none today).
  • Log out: clears your access token and ends the refresh session.
  • Your browser: you can clear storage and cookies for clutchtick.com at any time from your browser settings. Doing so signs you out and resets your saved preferences.
  • App settings: notification and privacy preferences live in Settings inside the app.

5Changes & contact

If we change what we store, we'll update this page and the date above, and give clearer notice for anything material. Questions about cookies or your data? Get in touch through our contact page.
